Some memories are best forgotten.
Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce) is an agent of an insurance company that has suffered a terrible shock when someone broke into his house. He was beaten and his wife raped and murdered. Since then, he’s suffering from long-term memory loss, a rare disease that is manifested by the inability to remember new information. Because of that takes notes in the form of Polaroid photographs and tattoos on his body. During the investigation, getting help from Teddy (Joe Pantoliano), who poses himself as friend, even though Leonard feels that he should not be trusted, and seemingly sympathetic waitress Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss).
